CDIA MISSION STATEMENT:
The Duke Radiology Community of Diversity, Inclusion, and Awareness (CDIA) acknowledges the systemic inequities and injustices that are rooted in racism and are prevalent throughout American society. We recognize that these inequities extend into all aspects of society, including health care. While we realize that just an acknowledgment of systemic racism is not sufficient to dismantle it, we do believe that a public commitment to anti-racism is an important first step.
OUR FOCUS INCLUDES:

- Partnering with departmental leadership to support the recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of students, trainees, and faculty from a broad range of backgrounds to build a strong and dynamic departmental community.
- Engaging with local communities to explore and develop initiatives that improve access to medical imaging and promote broader health engagement.
- Encouraging self-awareness and education about individual and systemic factors that may influence healthcare delivery and professional interactions.
- Creating spaces for connection, reflection, and shared learning through discussion groups and department-wide events.
Participating in events and initiatives that align with our values of equity, human dignity, and the delivery of compassionate care.
CDIA LEADERSHIP:

CDIA STATEMENT ON EQUITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Duke Radiology Community of Diversity, Inclusion, and Awareness (CDIA) affirms its commitment to fairness, respect, and continuous improvement in the way we learn, work, and care for patients. We recognize that health outcomes and professional opportunities are not always experienced equally and that addressing these differences requires intention, reflection, and action.
As members of the Duke Radiology community, we are committed to:
- Ongoing reflection about how individual and organizational actions may impact others, with a willingness to learn and grow from feedback.
- Increasing our understanding of how personal experiences, perspectives, and unconscious assumptions may influence decision-making and relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Supporting a culture where all members feel included and heard, and where concerns are addressed constructively and respectfully.
- Contributing to community partnerships and efforts aimed at improving access to health services, particularly in the area of diagnostic imaging.
- Encouraging a diverse applicant pool and supporting inclusive hiring and mentoring practices that reflect the broader community we serve.
We understand that building a more equitable and respectful environment is an ongoing process. We commit to staying engaged, listening with openness, and holding ourselves accountable to the values we uphold.
