High Risk for Breast Cancer

Women with a greater than 20% lifetime risk of breast cancer are considered high-risk. The American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging recommend that all women have a risk assessment at age 30 to determine if supplemental screening before age 40 is indicate.

At Duke Breast Imaging we offer a variety of special services for high-risk women.

DUKE BREAST RISK ASSESSMENT CLINIC

The Duke Breast Risk Assessment Clinic provides a comprehensive evaluation and personalized risk assessment. The clinic is located in the Duke Cancer Center, conveniently next to our Breast Imaging Clinic. Additional information can be found here.

HIGH-RISK SCREENING

Women at high-risk for breast cancer may benefit from screening MRI in addition to screening mammography. Duke Breast Imaging offers screening breast MRI at many locations in Durham and Wake County. For patient’s whose insurance may not cover screening breast MRI, we offer an abbreviated screening MRI for a low out of pocket cost that can be ordered by your referring provider.
