Dan Sullivan, M.D., Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Radiology, receives the James L. Mulshine Leadership Award from the Prevent Cancer Foundation for his work on imaging’s role in early detection of cancer. The award was presented by Andrew Von Eschenbach, MD, former National Cancer Institute (NCI) Director and former FDA Commissioner. While at NCI (1997-2007) Dan provided key leadership to large population-based studies on digital mammography and CT screening for lung cancer. After returning to Duke in 2007, Dan founded and chaired the RSNA-supported Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers Alliance (QIBA). QIBA unites researchers, healthcare professionals, industry stakeholders, and regulatory agencies in the advancement of quantitative imaging and the use of biomarkers in clinical trials and clinical practice.
