Colleagues Recognize Radiology Team Members for Exceptional Patient Care and Collaboration

In one recognition, Jared Christensen, MD, MBA praised CT technologists Sherri Perry, Shannon Barnes and Michael Dunmore, along with Clinical Technical Assistant Michael Villar (pictured above), for their care of a patient who required urgent imaging following an accident. Christensen noted that the team expedited CT imaging to help facilitate timely subspecialty care while also providing compassion and reassurance to the patient and family during a difficult experience. He described their efforts as a reminder that excellent radiologic care extends beyond producing high-quality images and can meaningfully shape the patient experience.

In a separate acknowledgment, Matthew Langman, MD, MSIS recognized Alex Solomon, MD for volunteering his time to support a complex acetabuloplasty procedure at Duke Raleigh. According to Langman, Solomon chose to spend his academic day assisting with the case and remained throughout the procedure despite delays. Langman credited Solomon's commitment and support as an important contributor to the case's success.

Jon Martin, MD was also recognized by A. Ian Wong, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine, for his role in a pulmonary embolism response team (PERT) case involving a patient transferred from Lake Norman. Wong praised Martin's rapid review of imaging, prompt acceptance of the patient for treatment and same-day thrombectomy procedure, noting that the collaboration helped ensure timely access to specialized care. He highlighted the case as an example of effective multidisciplinary teamwork in support of patients.
