We are pleased to offer a one-year combined Cardiothoracic and Abdominal Imaging Fellowship, providing six months of dedicated training in each subspecialty.
This unique fellowship is designed for radiologists who want advanced expertise across the chest, cardiovascular, abdominal, and pelvic imaging while maintaining the breadth and flexibility that are increasingly valuable in both academic and private practice settings. Fellows train alongside Duke's Abdominal Imaging and Cardiothoracic Imaging faculty and gain extensive experience in advanced CT and MRI, complex imaging, and multidisciplinary patient care.
The Cardiothoracic Imaging experience provides advanced training in chest and cardiovascular imaging, including radiography, chest CT, cardiovascular CT, vascular MRI, as well as image-guided thoracic interventions, including CT-guided lung biopsy, thoracentesis, and radiofrequency ablation. For more details of the Cardiothoracic Imaging experience, please Click “here” to visit the Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship page.
The Abdominal Imaging experience includes advanced abdominal and pelvic CT,MRI and ultrasound with exposure to gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, genitourinary, oncologic, and other complex disease processes at a level 1 trauma center and transplant center. The Body Imaging experience also includes image-guided interventions including US and CT guided superficial and deep biopsy as well as drain placements. For more details of the Abdominal Imaging experience, please refer to the Abdominal Imaging Fellowship page.
The curriculum combines the depth of subspecialty fellowship training with the breadth of two high-volume disciplines. Fellows are integrated into the educational and clinical activities of both divisions and have opportunities for teaching, multidisciplinary conferences, and scholarly work.
This fellowship is particularly well suited for applicants seeking a career spanning both abdominal and cardiothoracic imaging and for those interested in becoming highly versatile cross-sectional imager.
