New Vice Chair for Health Information Technology Named

Duke Radiology is pleased to announce a leadership transition in the area of health information technology. Beginning in October 2025, Nick Said, M.D., MBA, will assume the role of Vice Chair for Health Information Technology.

Dr. Said succeeds Chris Roth, M.D., MMCI, who has served with distinction in the role for several years. Dr. Roth will continue to focus on advancing the Duke Imaging Service Line and his work as Director of Imaging Informatics Strategy for Duke Health.

Dr. Said brings a unique blend of expertise in medicine, engineering, and business to his new position. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Virginia Tech before completing his medical degree at West Virginia University School of Medicine. He trained in diagnostic radiology at the University of Virginia, where he also completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging.

Prior to joining Duke Radiology in 2016, Dr. Said practiced at Coastal Radiology, where he served as Chief of Information Technology. At Duke, he has held multiple leadership roles, including Director of MRI and Access Champion, and has become a nationally recognized speaker on strategies to improve radiologist efficiency and workflow.

The department extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Roth for his leadership and accomplishments as Vice Chair for Health Information Technology. His work fostered deep collaborations across Duke Health and helped advance the department’s informatics strategy.

The search for the new Vice Chair was led by Tracy Jaffe, M.D., with support from a dedicated and thoughtful committee.
