On Nov. 6, 2020, Drs. Connie Kim, Austin Dixon, Imarhia Enogieru, and Laura Heyneman met with URM high school students, over Zoom, to talk about their careers in radiology and the medical profession.
These students attend Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School, a Durham Public School, located on the campus of North Carolina Central University and belong to a club called “Minorities in Medicine”. The purpose of this club is to engage clinicians to speak to them about their medical specialties and get advice on how to achieve their career goals.
Dr. Kim says, “It was fun! Austin and Imarhia presented on how to become a radiologist and what radiologists do. Unfortunately, we ran out of time for questions, but Ms. Moore (educator and club advisor) also teaches anatomy and asked if we would mind coming to help with that class. I am hopeful this could develop into a regular interaction!”
