MRI Technology Reveals Deep Brain Pathways in Unprecedented Detail
“At the Center for In Vivo Microscopy, under direction of Radiology Professor Dr. G. Allan Johnson, lead author (MD/PhD student) Dr. Evan Calabrese, as part of his PhD research in biomedical engineering, created a detailed 3D map of the human brain stem, collaborating with doctors from Duke Neurology, Pathology, and Neurosurgery. Images were acquired on the Center for In Vivo Microscopy’s 7 Tesla small bore laboratory MR system to extend diffusion tensor imaging to microscopic resolutions, creating images 1000 times more detailed than routine clinical scans.” Read more on this at Duke
