The residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Duke University is a five year combined residency and fellowship program which accepts 12 residents per year (for details, see Residency Applicant Info). A one year preliminary or rotating internship is required.
Duke University Medical Center (DUMC) is located on the edge of the undergraduate campus and is a five minute walk from the campus center. DUMC is a 1,000 bed tertiary care hospital which includes neighboring North and South Hospitals. Duke North is the main hospital where the majority of resident rotations are spent and Duke South is primarily an outpatient facility. The North and South hospitals are conveniently connected by a floral-lined covered walkway and electric train.
Approximately 450,000 examinations and over 20,000 procedures are performed annually at DUMC on inpatients and outpatients. DUMC is a Level One trauma center and the Emergency Department is contiguous with the Radiology Department on the first floor of Duke North Hospital. Residents also spend 3 one month rotations at the Durham VA Medical Center located across the street from the Duke North Hospital. |
